Splitter is a live VJ tool integrating realtime video mapping and sound-recognition. Several hundred floating objects (splitters) construct a series of three-dimensional visual patterns that listen and dance to the music, cycling through different formations, oscillating between meticulous order and organic chaos. Being sensitive to the musics beat-structure, Splitter answers its calls with its own visual language.
Images and movie files are mapped onto the polygons creating a fragmented landscape where visual information is as often legible as it is not. Additionally a generative live video-texture is created, providing a light-like effect that can either leave glowing tracks in darkness or whitening out all other visual traces.
